9,473 Canned Food Clip Art Royalty-Free Images, Stock Photos ... Just a reminder that all of Lent 4th graders are hosting a canned food drive for the Lord's Diner. This is a great way to practice one of the 3 Pillars of Lent: giving alms! The Lord's Diner are in great need of canned corn, green beans, and fruit. The students are also encouraged to spend some of their own allowance or spare cash to buy some cans as well. :)

What We Are Learning:

  • Math: Since Topic 9 is fairly long, students will be taking a half-way point quiz over the first five lessons of Topic 9. This quiz will be on Tuesday. We will have a review day on Monday, but there will be no study guide for this quiz! After the quiz, students will begin to learn how to convert from an improper fraction to a mixed number and vice versa.

  • Religion: Students will be wrapping up Unit 3 (The Holy Spirit) in their textbook this week. They will have the opportunity to work with their groupmates earlier in the week to complete the Unit 3 Review. After completion, students will be able to participate in a Lenten watercolor activity!

  • Social Studies: Students will be taking a break from learning about the US Regions in our magazines for a couple of weeks. Students in 4th grade have 3 State Assessments to take this year: ELA, Math, and Social Studies. ELA and Math are test based, but Social Studies in 4th grade is project-based. Each student will randomly select a US State to research about individually. Towards the end of the project, each student will get a partner to compare and contrast their state to each other and they will present their findings together.
    • State Assessment Project - Week 1
      • Independent Research of State (3 class periods)
    • State Assessment Project - Week 2
      • Receive presentation partner + begin working on Google Slides presentation

A Few Reminders...

  • For those who are interested in donating to our classroom, here is the link to the site: https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/7FWRP99MO4IT?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_ggr-subnav-share_R61QJ2KVSXFXPCJTCQ1Q
  • Students are now allowed to bring water bottles that are stainless steel and they don't have to be necessarily clear. They are expected to ONLY have WATER inside of their bottle. Failure to abide by this rule will result in your child using only clear bottles for the remainder of the school year.
  • Every day your child should bring back to school their agenda and their school computer fully charged.
  • Please double check if your child has a pair of headphones at school! We utilize headphones many times throughout the week for Hallow or listening to a read aloud. Thank you so much!
  • Our canned food drive will be happening all throughout Lent! Canned foods such as corn, green beans, and fruit will be collected and donated to the Lord’s Diner in May. Thank you so much for helping your child practice one of the three pillars of Lent - giving alms.
