A Pastor's Thoughts (Fr. Ed Namiotka): First Holy Communion and the May Crowning

Let's lift up our 2nd Graders in prayer this weekend as they receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the very first time!

What We Are Learning:

  • Math: Students will be wrapping up Topic 12 this week over fractional and decimal relationships, comparing decimals, and adding/subtracting money amounts in word problems. They will receive their Topic 12 Study Guide on Monday and their test will be on Tuesday.

  • Religion: Students started Ch. 16 in their Religion textbook. They will be learning about Respecting Others. This will be their last chapter in Religion this year before we move into another program that all grade levels called “Family Life.” On Thursday, students will take their “Act of Faith” prayer quiz. We have been praying this prayer in class since October and it is one of the 4 prayers that a 4th Grader needs to know by the end of 4th Grade.

  • Social Studies: Students will continue learning about the Southwest Region of the United States! They will be learning about all four states of the Region and what they are known for in the modern day.

A Few Reminders...

  • For those who are interested in donating to our classroom, here is the link to the site: https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/7FWRP99MO4IT?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_ggr-subnav-share_R61QJ2KVSXFXPCJTCQ1Q
  • Students are now allowed to bring water bottles that are stainless steel and they don't have to be necessarily clear. They are expected to ONLY have WATER inside of their bottle. Failure to abide by this rule will result in your child using only clear bottles for the remainder of the school year.
  • Every day your child should bring back to school their agenda and their school computer fully charged.
  • Stewardship Hours are due in May! A student in 4th grade needs a total of 4 hours by the middle of May. These hours can be signed by a parent and should be recorded in your child's agenda (pg. 28 blue page). This is worth 40 points as a grade in your child's 4th Quarter Religion Grade.
